A daily song guessing game
I Know That is a free song guessing game. You hear the first tenth of a second of a song
and get seven tries to name it. Every wrong guess or skip plays a longer clip:
0.1, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 15 seconds. Name it in one and you really know that song.
4 new puzzles every day
Each day there are 4 daily songs: All, Rock, Hip-Hop and Top Hits. Everyone gets the same songs, and they change at
midnight New York time. Missed a day? The last week of daily puzzles can still be played. After each one you
can see how everyone else did and share your result.
Unlimited practice
Practice mode plays as many random songs as you like, filtered by genre and decade:
rock, alternative, hip-hop, pop, 90s and 2000s Europop and Eurodance, electronic and EDM, R&B, country,
Latin, disco and reggae, from the 1950s to today. Pick Top Hits to practise on this week's Top 50.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes. There's no account and nothing to install. It works in any modern browser on a phone or computer, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
- How many songs are there?
- 751 well-known songs across every decade from the 1950s to the 2020s, and the list keeps growing.
- Is it like Heardle?
- If you liked Heardle, it's the same kind of game: name the song from its intro, with longer clips after each miss. I Know That starts shorter (0.1 seconds), has three dailies a day, keeps a week of past puzzles, and has unlimited practice.
- What does the yellow guess mean?
- Green is the right song. Yellow is the right artist but a different song. Red is wrong.
- Where does the music come from?
- The clips are official 30-second previews from Apple Music. After each round you can play the full preview and open the song on Apple Music or YouTube.
